Bird Watching Haven at Avril Cottage: A Sanctuary for Feathered Friends

Avril Cottage offers a place of safety and respite to more than just people. Surrounded by wetlands, numerous feathered friends have come to call this place home during the spring and summer months.

This morning I awoke to this lovely visitor resting on the grassy lawn where she stayed for a number of hours, possibly recuperating from some stressful encounter.

Her mate could be seen keeping an eye on her from across the road, but after a bit of time his patience wore out and he abandoned his vigil, flying back over the cattails into the pond.

Meanwhile a pair of Canada geese emerged, proudly walking up and down the roadside showing off their newly hatched family.

Unlike many of Earth’s creatures, Canada geese parent together and mate for life.

Although not a predator free zone, there are numerous sheltered spots and natural food sources available at and surrounding Avril Cottage. With so many varieties of birds this year, it truly has become a haven and a sanctuary.

Blessings!
